StoryFest - A Celebration of Children & Books
VEP works with the Ventura Neighborhood for Learning to help young children under age 6 with school readiness. The VNfL partners with the school district and First 5 Ventura County. The funds raised go to the VNfL Family Centers, which connect families to medical, educational and social resources to help them remain safe and healthy and prepare young children for school.
Young children and their families are invited to celebrate the joy of reading at the 9th annual StoryFest, to be held on Saturday, October 14th, 2017, 9 am to 2 pm, at the Ventura Unified School District Education Service Center, 255 W. Stanley Avenue, Ventura. This free event features story-telling, book giveaways, musical activities, Truckfest (an opportunity for children to get up close and touch trucks and a fire engine), and plenty of fun. The event is presented by the VEP and VNfL.
Community celebrities will be reading books throughout the day in each of six story tents. Books will be read in English, Spanish, and American Sign Language, and every child who visits the story tents will receive a FREE book. Children and families will also be able to sign up for library cards at the event by presenting a photo identification plus proof of resident address. Special activities will be offered by local organizations serving children. There will also be a buy-one-get-one-free book fair, and food for purchase.
